Sir Robert McAlpine has secured a prestigious contract to construct a state-of-the-art Battery Manufacturing Facility. The initial phase includes designing and constructing a 15GWh lithium-ion battery facility, ancillary buildings, and external works.

This Package Manager role oversees concrete work packages as part of our £800m project.

The Package Manager - Concrete Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will manage trade-contractor packages within the infrastructure and substructure team, leading engineers and subcontractors to deliver safety, quality, and performance standards.

We seek candidates who:

  • Take ownership of their package, ensuring all works are planned, safe, and the site is organized.
  • Promote a safety-first culture with a hands-on approach.
  • Plan and oversee logistical requirements, liaising with the Works Manager and Logistics Contractor.
  • Create short-term programmes and phase plans to accelerate work or address issues, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Monitor progress, analyze performance metrics, and report implications to the project team.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure team members and consider the broader project context.
  • Ensure technical compliance with contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Conduct quality inspections using FieldView.
  • Manage technical submittals and RFIs within the package scope.
  • Ensure scope and subcontract requirements are met and understand SRM obligations.
  • Record key events and activities.
  • Promote the SRM Build Sure culture.
Your Profile
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience managing multi-million-pound building projects
  • Proven experience with structural steelwork and façade packages on high-profile projects
  • Experience managing subcontractors for steel fabrication and façade installation
  • Ability to lead progress meetings and report on package status
  • Procurement experience, including supplier negotiations
  • Technical collaboration with design and engineering teams
  • Site management skills, including health and safety compliance
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and handling Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events
  • Understanding of building products, construction details, and standards
  • Familiarity with construction software such as FieldView, 4P, Dalux, and Asta (desirable)
