Job summary

Choices and Rights Disability Coalition is seeking an active male Personal Assistant to support a 25-year-old disabled man in Hull (HU3). The role is 20 hours per week with potential additional hours, based in the community and client’s home.

You will assist with personal care, meals, appointments and social activities such as swimming, trips, walks, and church. A driver with a clean license is preferred; you must be non-smoker and comfortable around a therapy dog and cats.

• Happy around dogs and cats.
• Non-smoker.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accessing social activities (swimming, trips, walks, appointments).
• Provide personal care support including hygiene (showering, toilet).
• Assist with meal preparation.
• Support in local church activities.
• Ensure safety due to the client’s size and inability to communicate verbally.
• Occasional driving or accompaniment if licensed.

Job description

An active male Personal Assistant is required to support a 25yr old disabled man in the HU3 area of Hull. There are 20hrs per week available and possibly more.

The PA employed would be required to assist him with accessing social activities such as swimming, trips out, going for walks and attending appointments.

He is 6ft tall but has no sense of his own size or awareness of danger, so the successful applicant will need to ensure that he is safe. He requires assistance and support with personal hygiene (showering, toilet, etc). He has autism and is unable to communicate verbally.

Applicants must be happy around dogs and cats (the family have a therapy dog) and must have a calm, respectful and compassionate nature, awareness and be sensitive to the man's needs.

A car driver is preferred with a full clean driving license. The PA must be a non-smoker and have experience of working with people with multiple needs.
