Job summary

MARCH is seeking an experienced Primavera P6 Planner to join our Project Controls Team in Whitehaven. You will develop and maintain integrated schedules for complex MEICA design and installation projects within the UK nuclear sector, ensuring alignment with client and regulatory requirements.

Working with project managers, engineers and commercial teams, you will provide scheduling insight, monitor progress, analyse critical paths, and produce look‑ahead programmes and dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Primavera P6 Planner in the nuclear/regulatory sector.
  • Advanced user of Primavera P6 Professional.
  • Strong understanding of CPM scheduling and project controls.
  • Experience developing and managing detailed project schedules.
  • Knowledge of planning, progress reporting, forecasting, change control, and schedule risk analysis.
  • Experience supporting engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
  • Desirable: UK nuclear industry experience and NEC4/EVM familiarity.

  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Produce baseline programmes aligned with project scope, contract requirements and controls procedures.
  • Create and maintain WBS, coding structures, calendars, and activity logic.
  • Ensure schedules are resource loaded and aligned with cost and risk information.
  • Monitor progress against baselines, updating programmes with actual progress and forecast data.
  • Analyse critical path, float, and schedule performance to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Produce planning outputs including look-ahead programmes, milestones, S-curves and dashboards.
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and forecasting activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and commercial teams to maintain programme accuracy.
  • Facilitate planning workshops and stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify programme risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Assess schedule impact of changes and support change control processes.
  • Ensure planning activities comply with governance and nuclear standards.

We are looking for an experienced Primavera P6 Planner to join our growing Project Controls Team in Whitehaven. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex MEICA design and installation projects within the UK nuclear sector.


As a Primavera P6 Planner, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and analysis of integrated project schedules, ensuring project plans are robust, accurate, and aligned with client, regulatory, and business requirements. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Teams, Construction Managers, and key stakeholders, you will provide valuable planning insight to support informed decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.

  • Produce baseline programmes in line with project scope, contract requirements, and project controls procedures.

  • Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), coding structures, calendars, and activity logic.

  • Ensure schedules are appropriately resource loaded and aligned with cost and risk information where required.

  • Monitor progress against approved baselines, updating programmes with actual progress and forecast data.

  • Analyse critical path, float, and schedule performance to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Produce planning and reporting outputs, including look-ahead programmes, milestone reports, S-curves, variance reports, and executive dashboards.

  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and forecasting activities.

  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial teams to maintain programme accuracy.

  • Facilitate planning workshops, programme reviews, and stakeholder meetings.

  • Identify programme risks and develop mitigation and recovery plans where required.

  • Assess the schedule impact of proposed changes and support change control processes.

  • Ensure planning activities comply with project governance, quality standards, and nuclear industry requirements.

  • Support tender planning, programme development, and bid submissions.

  • Carry out regular schedule assurance and quality checks to maintain programme integrity.


Skills, Experiences & Qualifications


  • Proven experience as a Primavera P6 Planner within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry (e.g. defence, energy, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, or infrastructure).

  • Advanced user of Primavera P6 Professional.

  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and project controls.

  • Experience developing and managing detailed project schedules.

  • Knowledge of planning, progress reporting, forecasting, change control, and schedule risk analysis.

  • Experience supporting engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.

  • Practical experience planning and coordinating MEICA systems within complex engineering environments.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and data interpretation skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.

  • Experience within the UK nuclear industry is desirable.

  • Knowledge of NEC4 contracts and Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting tools.

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Primavera P6 certification and professional membership (APM, CIOB, or similar) would be advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and time management.

  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.

  • Confident working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
