The team...
Governor Support are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and articulate person to their busy team, which provides high-quality clerking, support, and advice to school governing bodies and academy trust boards.
About the role...
You will be required to produce draft agendas, attend governing body and committee meetings (mainly in the evening), and occasional exclusion and complaint meetings. You will provide advice, write up draft minutes within 15-20 working days, and carry out follow-up actions. You will advise on legal duties and best practice, including governance regulations, the Academy Trust Handbook, and company law where required, before, during, and after meetings. Maintaining professional working relationships with the chair, the board, and school leaders is essential.
The role is term-time only, and you must be willing to work unsocial hours regularly. You must have a relevant clerking qualification (or a commitment to obtain one within twelve months of employment), a good standard of education, and relevant transferable experience. This should include high literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, excellent written and verbal communication, minute-taking, report writing, planning, organizational skills, relationship-building abilities, advisory and problem-solving skills, and effective time management to meet deadlines and competing demands. Knowledge of the schools system, governance legislation, and effective governance is also required.
You must hold a current driving license and have access to a car or means of mobility support. If successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.

Salary amounts quoted are from 1 September to 31 August. If you start employment partway through the academic year, they are subject to an equated salary adjustment.
