HFG are currently recruiting for a leading P&I Club who are seeking an Underwriter to join their growing team.

My client is looking for 3-5+ years experience, ideally from a P&I Club and the successful candidate will be joining their Offshore Syndicate. They are very high on succession planning and like to promote from within so is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess risks accurately as per the underwriting guidelines outlined in the Underwriting Procedures Manual.
  2. Strictly follow the Underwriting Procedures Manual and all associated processes.
  3. Maintain high levels of service for Members and brokers by promptly and accurately issuing documentation.
  4. Cultivate and sustain relationships with Members and Brokers to enhance and expand the portfolio for the Club's mutual benefit.
  5. Identify, attract, and foster new business opportunities for the benefit of the Association.
  6. Continuously monitor and analyze the portfolio's performance, addressing any areas of concern promptly.
  7. Ensure all outstanding premiums are paid before renewals are bound, in collaboration with the finance team.
  8. Responsible for approving and ensuring the correct issuance of blue cards.
  9. Share knowledge, information, and experience within the Underwriting team.
  10. Enhance skills and knowledge necessary for the role by actively participating in training and development activities.
  11. Conduct sanctions screening on Members, other parties, and vessels, resolving any hits before binding cover or processing MTA's.
