Job summary

A prestigious P&I Club in London is looking for an experienced Underwriter to join their Offshore Syndicate. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing risks, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development. With a focus on career growth and internal promotion, this position offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in a supportive environment. Ideal candidates will have 3-5+ years of underwriting experience, particularly within P&I Clubs, contributing to portfolio performance and maintaining high service standards for Members and Brokers.

Responsibilities

  • Assess risks accurately according to the underwriting guidelines outlined in the Underwriting Procedures Manual.
  • Follow the Underwriting Procedures Manual and all related processes strictly.
  • Maintain high service levels for Members and brokers by promptly issuing documentation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Members and Brokers to grow the portfolio for the Club's mutual benefit.
  • Identify and attract new business opportunities for the Association.
  • Monitor and analyze the portfolio's performance, addressing issues promptly.
  • Ensure all outstanding premiums are paid before renewals are bound, in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Approve and ensure the correct issuance of blue cards.
  • Share knowledge and experience within the Underwriting team.
  • Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct sanctions screening on Members, other parties, and vessels, resolving hits before binding cover or processing MTA's.
