Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Marine & Cargo team at Marsh Specialty. This role will be based in London. It is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic P&I Practice Head to lead our Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance brokerage team in the UK. Reporting to the CEO for Marine, Cargo and Logistics UK, the successful candidate will oversee P&I operations, develop strategic initiatives, and ensure excellent service to clients. This role demands a deep understanding of marine insurance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build relationships with clients, prospects, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership and Management: Lead and support the P&I team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  2. Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong client relationships and act as the primary contact for key clients.
  3. Strategic Development: Create and execute strategies to grow the P&I portfolio and identify market opportunities.
  4. Technical Expertise: Provide advice on P&I insurance products, stay updated on industry regulations, and collaborate with other teams for seamless service.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Track team KPIs and report on performance and market trends.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and preferably a professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII).
  • Extensive experience in marine insurance, especially P&I.
  • Proven leadership experience, client engagement, and performance management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of P&I products, market dynamics, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualities:

  • Significant experience in marine insurance with a focus on P&I.
  • Leadership experience managing teams and client relationships.
