CNH Industrial Basildon invites applications for an Alpha Test Engineer within the P&E Onboard group. You will define and execute test procedures for Precision Farming, Telematics, and product control systems across bench and field environments.

The role requires hands-on validation work on agricultural platforms, experience with CAN, and travel across the UK and Europe. This is a fully on-site position based in Basildon with occasional regional duties.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience operating and evaluating agricultural machinery.
Strong troubleshooting and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

Develop & maintain detailed system and sub-system test procedures for functional, performance, and safety tests.
Execute validation plan and test procedures on bench or in-field testing at CNH test facilities or external sites.
Document and clearly communicate test results, including issue reporting into tracking tools.
Assist in root cause analysis and verification of resolution for problems identified during testing.
Interface effectively with support groups and internal customers such as engineering, marketing, vehicle or implement platforms.
Aid design team in vehicle tuning exercises or targeted development tests for Auto Guidance and Precision Farming features.

Job Purpose

The Alpha Test Engineer will work closely with multiple product development teams and product platforms to assist in defining requirements, functional testing technical system interactions, and identification of risks for agriculture vehicles utilizing Precision Solutions and Telematics systems. This position works with the P&E PV Onboard group to create the necessary test procedures and plans for the validation of those systems, then executes the validation plan on a variety of vehicles platforms and test benches. This role is a systems generalist that is capable of conducting functional testing on a variety of Precision farming, guidance, telematics, product control, Farm Management Information Systems, and web based solutions across multiple off-highway platforms. Position requires the capability to collect and analyze operational data and familiarity with CAN communications.

UK-based role involving occasional regional and international travel. Regular outdoor work in agricultural, customer and field-test environments is required.Workload may vary according to agricultural seasons and critical test periods. Occasional evening or weekend work may therefore be necessary.

Key Responsibilities

1.Develop & maintain detailed system and sub-system test procedures for functional, performance, and safety tests as related to Precision Farming, Product Control, and Guidance content based on system specifications.
2.Execute validation plan and test procedures on the bench or in-field testing at CNH test facilities or external customer sites.
3.Document and clearly communicate test results, including issue reporting into proper tracking tools. Maintain and update issues as they are resolved.
4.Assist in root cause analysis and verification of resolution for problems identified during testing. Collect and analyze data to assist development team in root cause identification and problem resolution.
5.Interface effectively with support groups and internal customers such as engineering, marketing, vehicle or implement platforms, etc.
6.Aid design team in vehicle tuning exercises or targeted development tests for Auto Guidance and Precision Farming features of the P&E PV Onboard software.

Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Agricultural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Precision Agriculture, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
Experience operating and evaluating agricultural machinery.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
Ability to analyse technical data and communicate findings clearly in reports and discussions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
Valid driving licence.
Ability to travel extensively within the UK, and Europe

Preferred Qualifications

2 years’ experience with Farm Equipment, Precision Farming systems or connected vehicle systems
1-2 years’ experience with development and execution of test plans.
Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to demonstrate good computer skills with Word, Excel, MSOffice suite.
Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt quickly in dynamic, fast-paced environments with minimal oversight
Customer driven focus.
Experience using Vector tools, dSPACE or other tools for serial bus system data logging and analysis.
CAPL, python, C++ programming skills
Knowledge of HIL systems
Collaboration: Builds effective working relationships across customers, dealers and cross-functional teams.
