Job summary

Mint Selection is seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers for contract opportunities across the UK and Ireland. The role focuses on HV/EHV substation design within energy infrastructure, including renewables, grid connections and refurbishment projects.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated expertise with HV equipment, relevant UK/Ireland standards and experience with EPC contractors or specialist substation consultancies. Hybrid locations available across various project sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical design within the power and energy sector.
• Background in HV substations, transmission and distribution or grid connections.
• Experience with EPC contractors or substation engineering consultancies.
• Knowledge of relevant UK or Irish utility standards and engineering practices.
• Experience with 33kV, 66kV, 132kV, 275kV or 400kV infrastructure is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation or relevant electrical design software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical designs for HV and EHV substation projects.
• Produce technical drawings, specifications, calculations and engineering documentation.
• Support primary electrical design, including layouts, clearances, cable systems and infrastructure.
• Coordinate electrical design activities with protection, control, civil and wider project engineering teams.
• Review designs against client specifications, standards and project requirements.
• Support design reviews, technical queries and coordination throughout project delivery.
• Liaise with EPC contractors, consultants, utilities and equipment suppliers.

Mint Selection is looking to engage experienced Electrical Design Engineers for contract opportunities supporting major energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.

Our focus is on engineers with strong backgrounds in HV electrical design, particularly those who have worked within EPC contractors, specialist substation engineering companies or power-sector consultancies.

Projects may include new-build and refurbishment substations, transmission and distribution network upgrades, renewable energy connections and battery energy storage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical designs for HV and EHV substation projects.

• Support primary electrical design, including equipment layouts, clearances, cable systems and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate electrical design activities with protection, control, civil and wider project engineering teams.

• Liaise with EPC contractors, consultants, utilities and specialist equipment suppliers.
