Job Description:

Outstations Manager

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum

Working hours: Monday – Friday, day shifts

Contract: 18-month FTC

Location: Onsite - Arlington

Your new role

You will oversee depot-based planning and management of all production activities related to fleet campaigns, modifications, and improvements to Hitachi rolling stock assets, ensuring performance targets are met.

Manage all Hitachi and contracted technical staff, including individual and team development, incorporating continuous improvement concepts into safety, quality, performance, and cost.

Promote excellent health & safety, quality, and environmental practices.

Manage all Hitachi projects at Arlington, including Acer, Paint Programme, D&V, and other site activities.

Ensure team delivers contractual requirements for train modifications to the correct standards and schedules.

Maintain compliance with relevant rail industry standards and contractual KPIs.

Ensure all records are completed and entered into the maintenance management system.

Utilize engineering schedules, procedures, and specifications for traction and rolling stock activities.

Organize resources and prioritize activities for planned and unplanned traction and rolling stock engineering tasks.

Ensure the safe movement of rolling stock.

Recruit, train, and develop the Arlington Acer team members.

Control costs through resource planning.

Identify and manage hazards in the railway environment.

Conduct in-process and post-modification checks to drive continuous improvement.

Handle disciplinary issues within teams and conduct assessments as per the depot competence management system.

Manage traction and rolling stock assets and prioritize workload for reliability and repairs.

Support resource allocation and workload prioritization for both planned and unplanned activities.

Manage relevant budgets and influence team collaborations.

Support fleet reliability improvements using root cause analysis.

Encourage continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in defect and maintenance procedures.

Identify process improvement opportunities and ensure activities are accurately reported in Hitachi data systems.

Carry out investigations following company policies.

Support the Programme Manager and liaise professionally with customers regarding fleet and contractual requirements.

About you

Ability to strategically manage the area for maximum effectiveness and delivery of plans. Address challenges proactively and follow up on actions.

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to influence peers and leaders to secure necessary resources.

Understanding of health and safety responsibilities in the environment.

Qualifications: M&E HNC or served engineering apprenticeship.

Licenses/Competences: Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, Equinox), Depot Protection, Working at Height, AC/DC Depot isolation, Assessor, and PTS able.

Extensive managerial experience in rail maintenance environment.
