Join Waltham Forest Street Outreach Team – Outreach Worker

At Change Grow Live, we are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. This innovative service provides tailored support pathways for individuals experiencing rough sleeping or involved in street-based activity in the borough.

We are now recruiting a committed individual to join our dynamic and experienced Waltham Forest Street Outreach Team, based in the heart of Waltham Forest. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact and be part of a service that delivers real change.

As an Outreach Worker within the SOS team, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to move off the streets and towards stable housing. You will engage with a range of individuals in London Borough Of Waltham Forest who have adopted a ‘street-based lifestyle’ including rough sleepers and beggars with a view to engaging them in appropriate services and moving them into more settled lifestyles.

Please note: This role will require you to walk for extended periods to conduct street outreach and provide direct support. This role involves working weekends, evenings, and early mornings as part of the outreach support provided to those in need.

Location: London Borough Waltham Forest

Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 (dependent on experience, pro rata for part time hours)

Allowance: £2,195.72 Outer London Weighting

*Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting relationships with individuals experiencing rough sleeping or involved in street-based activity.
  • Conduct outreach shifts across the borough, engaging with individuals in all weathers, including mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Support individuals to access accommodation, physical and mental health services, substance use support, benefits, and more.
  • Empower individuals by amplifying their voices, ensuring they are heard and supported in expressing their needs and strengths.
  • Work closely with partner agencies, collaborating to provide comprehensive support.
  • Accurately record all interactions with individuals and other professionals to ensure a clear and coordinated approach.

To excel in this role, you will:

  • Bring experience in supporting individuals with complex needs, including homelessness, mental health, and substance use challenges.
  • Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a dynamic team, with a proactive attitude toward solving challenges.
  • Experience in engaging and supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs.
  • Be a skilled communicator, able to engage and build trust with people from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate services and make positive changes in their lives.
  • Have a strong understanding of homelessness issues and be able to work collaboratively with a range of partners to support individuals in crisis.
  • Approach every situation with empathy, flexibility, and a focus on empowering those you support to achieve their goals.
