Job summary

JDS Tuition Services in Mansfield is seeking a passionate SEN Tutor to support two students across two nearby locations in Nottinghamshire. The role involves delivering personalised one-to-one tuition and building confidence to help learners achieve positive educational outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a PGCE/QTS or significant tutoring experience, experience with SEN/SEMH including ASD/ADHD, and a patient, empathetic, flexible approach.

Qualifications

• PGCE/QTS or significant tutoring/teaching experience.
• Experience supporting SEN and SEMH, including ASD and ADHD.
• Knowledge of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, one-to-one tuition tailored to each student’s individual learning style.
• Develop and implement personalised learning plans in collaboration with parents, carers and other professionals.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN and SEMH needs.
• Provide emotional and pastoral support, creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and adapting lessons where required.
• Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s education.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your knowledge and practice.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Tutor to join our team, supporting two students across two nearby locations in Nottinghamshire.

The students include:

• Year 5 female based in Forest Town, Mansfield
• Year 10 male based in Ashfield

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, one-to-one tuition tailored to each student’s individual learning style.
• Develop and implement personalised learning plans in collaboration with parents, carers and other professionals.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN and SEMH needs.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education), QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or significant experience in a similar tutoring or teaching role.
• Proven experience supporting students with SEN and SEMH, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
• Knowledge and experience of using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic and flexible approach.
• The ability to work independently and adapt to the individual needs of each student.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people reach their full potential.
