Job summary

A leading education provider in the UK is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to deliver tailored education packages to children with complex needs in the Newcastle area. The tutor will work one-on-one to support academic skills and personal development. The role requires QTS or equivalent and a minimum of six months experience with SEN learners. This part-time position offers GBP25 per hour and includes flexible hours based on individual needs.

Outreach Tutor (Newcastle)
About the Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to deliver tailored education packages to children and young people in the Newcastle area. These learners are not currently attending school and may have significant additional needs, including SEND, SEMH, and challenging behaviour. The role involves working in the community or within the students’ home, providing one‑to‑one lessons focused on core subjects such as Maths and English, as well as supporting with life skills and personal development.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, create, and deliver highly personalised lessons designed to build confidence, engagement, and academic progress.
  • Reintroduce structure into the students’ day while supporting both academic development and life skills.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to inclusive education.
Contract / Position Details
  • Location: Within the community or students’ homes in Newcastle
  • Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs)
  • Type of work: Part‑time, approximately 15‑25 hours per week
  • Minimum pay rate: GBP25 per hour
  • Hours: Sessions typically 1 to 3 hours long
Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners
  • Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable)
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding training issued within the last year (desirable but not essential)
Eligibility
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child‑related references covering the last two years
