Job summary

An educational support organization is seeking a Core Subject Tutor in Peacehaven to provide one-on-one tutoring in English and/or Maths. The ideal candidate will have experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and be capable of adapting lessons to meet individual student needs. Flexible part-time hours are offered for this nurturing and structured role.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching English and/or Maths (KS2-KS4).
• Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism and ADHD.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition in English and/or Maths.
• Adapt teaching strategies for SEN needs.
• Build a trusting relationship with the learner.
• Track and report on progress.

Overview

Core Subject Tutor - East Sussex (with SEN/SEMH experience)

Location: Peacehaven, East Sussex

Start Date: ASAP/September

Subjects: English and/or Maths (KS2-KS4)

Rate: £25-£35 per hour (dependent on experience)

Contract: Part-time, flexible hours

We are looking for dedicated and adaptable Core Subject Tutors to support young learners in the East Sussex area on a 1:1 basis. The ideal tutor will have experience teaching English and/or Maths and a good understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Autism, ADHD or SEMH. This role is perfect for a tutor who can deliver engaging, structured lessons while also taking a nurturing and flexible approach to meet the individual needs of the student.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition in English and/or Maths tailored to the learner's level and pace
• Adapt teaching strategies to support SEN needs and EHCP targets
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the learner to boost confidence and engagement
• Track and report on progress to parents and/or professionals

Requirements

• Experience teaching/tutoring Core Subjects
• Understanding of SEN and experience working with children with additional needs
• Patient, reliable, and confident working independently
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
