Job Advertisement: Outreach Teacher for Year 9 Student (Home-Based, Part-Time)

Location: Student's home (details provided upon successful application)
Hours: 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Part-Time
Start Date: As soon as possible
Rate: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking a patient, experienced, and compassionate Outreach Teacher to work with a bright Year 9 student who has been temporarily suspended from school. The student is autistic and presents with some challenges around emotional regulation, including occasional biting behavior. Despite these challenges, he is intelligent, curious, and capable of engaging well with the right support in place.

This is a vital role to support the student's continued learning and development during this period away from school. The teaching will take place in the student's home, with the support of the family and relevant professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver structured, engaging lessons tailored to the student's learning needs and interests

Foster a positive and trusting relationship to support emotional regulation and learning readiness

Work closely with the family and any external professionals to maintain consistency and a calm learning environment

Track progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly

Experience working with students with autism and additional needs

Understanding of emotional and behavioral regulation strategies

Ability to remain calm, consistent, and empathetic in challenging situations

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
