As an Outreach Recovery Worker, you will provide vital support to individuals in the community who are recovering from substance misuse or mental health challenges. You will work directly with service users, building trust and delivering tailored interventions that promote recovery and reintegration into society. The role involves regular outreach work, offering support in various community settings such as homes, shelters, and other service locations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting outreach work to identify, engage, and support individuals struggling with substance misuse or mental health issues.
  • Developing and implementing individualised recovery plans in partnership with service users, focusing on their goals and needs.
  • Building trusting relationships with service users, offering regular follow-ups to monitor progress and adapting recovery plans as needed.
  • Facilitating access to specialist services, including detox, counselling, and rehabilitation programs.
  • Conducting risk assessments and managing potential crises, ensuring the safety of service users and others involved.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records of interactions, assessments, and recovery plans.
  • Promoting recovery through one-to-one sessions, group work, and community activities aimed at fostering resilience and independence.
  • Raising awareness of substance misuse and recovery within the community through education and outreach initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals in recovery from substance misuse, mental health issues, or other complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by those in recovery, particularly within the context of outreach work.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with service users.
  • Ability to work independently and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Knowledge of local services and resources available to individuals in recovery.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to working with vulnerable individuals.
