Job summary

Lexia Education Services Ltd in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, is seeking an Outreach Mentor to work with students facing SEMH and SEN in school and community settings.

What You’ll Be Doing as an Outreach Mentor

You’ll be working in a school and community setting in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, providing individualised mentoring to students who need consistent, trusted role models. This is about showing up and being someone young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs (SEN) can relate to.

• Mentor 1:1 or in Small GroupsSupport young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and SEN (Special Educational Needs) through their daily journeys, meeting their personal and emotional needs.


• Encourage Expression Through CreativityUse art, music, sport, or your own specific skills to help students engage with their school work and connect to their peers.


• Support Emotional RegulationHelp young people develop their coping skills, offer calm guidance, and help students build resilience.


• Promote Positive BehaviourUse trauma-informed approaches and Team Teach techniques to reinforce boundaries in a compassionate way.


• Collaborate with Educators & FamiliesWork closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and SEN (Special Educational Needs).
