Job Summary
The Outpatient Department at The Royal London Hospital is looking for a Full-time staff nurse to help deliver a high standard of evidence based patient focused care, whose primary aim is to successfully deliver the overall NHS objectives.
Clinics are held Monday to Friday and our working hours are from 0900 to 1700 however you will be expected to open and close clinic, staring at 0830. Finishing times will vary depending on the department needs.We run multi- specialty clinics, including Vascular Surgery, Neurology, Renal Medicine and Colorectal Surgery. In addition, we are responsible for a Nurse Led Plastic Surgery Dressings Clinic which is held every weekday and is highly specialized.
You must be able to work well within a team and with different disciplines, offering support and assistance to colleagues when required.Applicants need to have good communication and organization skills, preferably with a proven record of working within an Outpatient or similar Department.
Main duties of the job
To assist, maintain and support outpatient clinics across The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals. The Outpatient areas are currently open Monday to Friday with varying hours from 08.30 to 19.00. There is a possibility that in the future there will be regular weekend and evening work. The post holder must be flexible to open and close Clinics as required by the service.
The Band 5 Staff Nurse will be responsible for supporting the band 6 and Band 7 Sisters in the management of the daily Clinical activities in the Outpatients department by assisting in the delivery of high standard of Nursing care to patients attending their appointment in line with the Trust vision and Values. This includes ensuring that all patients and visitors coming to the department have a safe , smooth and comfortable experience throughout their journey in the outpatients . The post also includes managing issues and problems in clinics and escalate accordingly . The post holder will be responsible in managing risk to self , patients , staff , visitors and colleagues in the department as well as to provide administrative and non-administrative support to patients coming the department .
