Job description

Location St Gemma's Hospice, Moortown, Leeds

The role

In this hands-on, rewarding role, you’ll work closely with male patients and carers to engage in light construction projects. Supported by our Palliative Care Workers, sessions will be in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.

  • Assisting male patients and carers with hands-on tasks such as making, repairing, or repurposing items - for example crafting bird boxes or creating small, practical gifts.
  • Designing and delivering structured, engaging activities suited to participants’ interests and abilities which may be offered as one-off sessions or as a series over several weeks.
  • Preparing, setting up, and clearing away materials and equipment to ensure a safe, organised, and welcoming environment.

We offer care to patients, families and carers in the Hospice’s In-Patient Unit, through the St Gemma’s community team, and at our Out-Patients.
