Percival is excited to be working exclusively with HideOut Youth Zone to help recruit a new Outdoor Sports Coordinator for their vibrant team.
About the Organization:
Empower Youth Zones is a charity overseeing the creation, management, and sustainability of HideOut in Gorton, Manchester, and Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) in Pendleton, Salford. This is an exciting time as SYZ prepares to open in summer 2025!
Facilities and Services:
Open 7 days a week, Youth Zones provide a free hot meal and over 20 activities each night for young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 with additional needs. Facilities include a 3G pitch, climbing wall, gym, sports hall, recreation area, and suites for dance, arts, music, and media.
Position Details:
- Reports to: Youth Work Manager
- Working Pattern: Full Time, Permanent
- Location: HideOut Youth Zone, Gorton, M12
Role Overview:
The Outdoor Sports Coordinator will develop and oversee outdoor sports activities, including MUGA, sports pitch, outdoor recreation, adventurous activities like urban sports and indoor climbing. You will lead the development of outdoor education and adventurous programs, including the Youth Zones Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Designing programs to promote positive outcomes—confidence, self-esteem, social skills—for ages 8-25 will be central to this role.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience working with young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in outdoor and adventure activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, BMXing, etc.
- Experience managing a staff team, including volunteers
- Experience organizing and delivering youth work activities in indoor and outdoor settings, including sports and adventurous activities
