Job summary

Valence School is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities Team. You will maintain school grounds, assist with equipment, and help keep outdoor spaces safe and welcoming for students and staff. The role is varied and outdoor, requiring reliability, physical fitness, and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience with grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, and planting.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and presentation of outdoor spaces.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine grounds maintenance including mowing, strimming, pruning, weeding, and planting.
• Maintain woodland, hedgerow, and lakeside areas.
• Operate and basic servicing of grounds equipment.
• Assist with repairs to fencing, gates, paths, and outdoor furniture.
• Support outdoor space setup for events.
• Assist with site safety activities, including snow clearance and gritting.
