Job Title: Outdoor Education Support Worker
Location:
Lytchett Matravers
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate or September 2025
Contract: Full time/Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Outdoor Education Support Worker to join a specialist education setting near Lytchett Matravers.

About the School: The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.

Responsibilities:

  • Support young people with SEN in engaging with outdoor, hands-on learning in areas such as animal care, horticulture, agriculture, and equine skills.
  • Assist with the delivery of enterprise-based and vocational activities that prepare learners for adulthood and employment.
  • Provide tailored, person-centred support to help build independence, confidence, and social skills.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help maintain outdoor learning spaces and ensure they remain safe, engaging, and well-equipped.
  • Encourage a positive attitude to outdoor education, supporting learners in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in outdoor learning and supporting young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with the flexibility to adapt to different learning needs and environments.
  • Good communication skills and a patient, supportive approach.
  • Experience working with SEN or in outdoor/vocational education is desirable, though full training is provided.
  • Willingness to work in a rural, outdoor environment across all seasons.
  • Ideally need a valid driving license and be willing to drive.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
