Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a Ranger for the Chilterns countryside, championing nature conservation and delivering habitat projects that benefit wildlife and people. You’ll be part of an outdoors team caring for countryside sites and working with partners to realise conservation goals.

The role requires practical conservation expertise, strong teamwork and the ability to engage with local communities. The position is permanent with a 37.5 hour week and occasional weekend/evening/on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in conservation to protect and improve habitats.
• Strong organisational skills to plan and prioritise work.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and build relationships.
• Confident communicating conservation work to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work safely using risk assessments and guidelines.
• Able to operate machinery with relevant certifications.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Join Countryside Team to improve woodlands and chalk grasslands.
• Support tenant farmers across the let estate and deliver habitat projects.
• Protect habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery, ensuring high standards.
• Engage with local communities to share our work and invite involvement.
• Pass on knowledge to encourage others to love the area.
