Out of Hours Social Worker / AMHP (Out of Hours Service, Clarendon, Hebburn) £50,269 pa (Inclusive of Retention Payments, subject to Review March 2028). A 15% Shift Allowance for out of hours working is attached to this post.

There is currently an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join the Out of Hours Service in South Tyneside. We are looking for a Social Work Professional who has post qualifying experience in the fields of Child Protection work and/or Adult Mental Health.

You would join a highly experienced and motivated team in generic social work and would be offered good support and opportunities for professional development.

  • For an experienced suitable candidate who is appointable and doesn’t have an AMHP qualification, the candidate would be expected to apply and begin the Approved Mental Health Professional training through Northumbria University in September 2026, which will be funded by the Local Authority. Failure to do so or achieve Approved Mental Health Professional Status may result in the termination of contract or possible redeployment (if an appropriate position was available).
  • Salary would be that of an Experienced Social Worker £47,181 pa (Inclusive of Retention Payments, subject to Review March 2028) + 15 % Shift Allowance for out of hours working until Approved Mental Health Professional Status achieved.
