Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Out-of-Hours Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) for maternity cover at its Cambridge site. You will join a busy, multi-disciplinary veterinary team providing emergency and inpatient care.

The role offers exposure to ECC/first opinion cases, anaesthesia, and high standards of patient welfare within a modern referral hospital setting, with a supportive culture and ongoing CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with ECC or first opinion nursing experience.
• Experience with anaesthesia and inpatient care in a veterinary setting.
• Strong clinical nursing and patient-care skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency and hospitalised patients.
• Support emergency triage and out-of-hours consultations.
• Monitor and care for inpatients overnight, including anaesthesia cases.
• Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
• Collaborate with vets and the wider clinical team in a fast-paced environment.
