Job summary

Swift Referrals is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Out of Hours team on a permanent basis. You will deliver advanced nursing care and support clinicians across orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery in a state-of-the-art referral hospital.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, caring for ICU patients and referrals while upholding high nursing standards and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
• Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills.
• Experience working in an OOH/emergency care setting.

We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Out of Hours team at Swift Referrals on a permanent basis.

Swift Referrals is a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary referral hospital, dedicated to delivering exceptional veterinary care across orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery, all under one roof.

Our hospital boasts world-class facilities, including advanced imaging equipment such as a 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, a 128-slice GE CT scanner, Doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and cutting-edge operating theatres. We also offer separate dog and cat wards to ensure the comfort of our patients, alongside a dedicated ECC and OOH centre with a large ICU to care for critical cases.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Referral Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care to complex cases within a referral hospital environment, supporting patients, clients, and clinical teams across a range of disciplines.

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high standards of nursing care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing your experience and knowledge with colleagues to continually improve patient outcomes and service delivery.

You’ll play a key role in caring for first opinion and referral emergency cases and inpatients. You’ll work closely with emergency clinicians, vets, nurses and ACAs, managing ICU patients and hospitalised referrals while delivering the highest standard of nursing care. You’ll see a wide range of interesting and complex cases, with full support from our experienced team as you settle into the role.

Working Hours

This is a permanent position working on a 5 on 10 off rota basis with 12 hour shifts each day.
