This role would suit candidates with an engineering background, be it electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or all, looking to further their career in the Rail industry. All Rail-specific training will be provided for the successful candidate. Job use van and fuel card will also be provided by Colas Rail UK. Applicants will need to have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work alone or as part of a team, and a can-do attitude when faced with solving problems. Lodging away from home will be required. Purpose of the Role

To fit, operate, and maintain on-track machines (OTMs) in a safe manner, in accordance with the Competency Based Standards for Fitters, Operators, and Maintainers, and in accordance with the Colas Rail Railway Safety Case. Full training will be given. Weekend, Christmas, and night work will be included in the shift pattern. Some working away from home will be required (company will facilitate). The job depends on passing relevant Railway Standard Medicals. A full Job Description will be provided at the interview.

Principal Accountabilities

• Responsible for booking on and off duty at the times and places directed by duty manager or senior production manager.
• Wear personal protective clothing as supplied.
• Maintain clear and open communication with Rugby Rail Plant Control Room- Help Desk.
• Work to a safe and competent standard.
• Absorb and retain knowledge trained on.
• Carry out emergency procedures as required.

OTM Operating

• Full training will be given on the operation of the OTMs.
• Responsible for repairing and servicing faults and failures.
• Report faults immediately to the Rugby Rail Plant Control Desk- Help Desk.
• Operate on-track machines according to Railway Standards.
• Perform maintenance and safety checks, assist specialists during breakdowns.

Fitting

• Assist Specialist Fitter staff with maintenance tasks.
• Report faults verbally and immediately.
• Complete maintenance duties under the Maintenance Fitter Assessment Scheme.

Experience, Knowledge, Technical Skills, and Qualifications

• Essential: Good computer and phone skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Flexible, honest, punctual.
• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid full clean road vehicle driving license.
• Willing to learn and train.
• Positive attitude and professional pride.
• Able to work weekends and nights.
