Job Purpose

We're seeking a skilled OT Security Manager to lead and strengthen the security of United Utilities' extensive Operational Technology (OT) estate. You will head a dedicated team including internal experts and external partners to oversee security operations across a complex environment comprising 4,000 Remote Telemetry Units, 5,000 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), 200 SCADA systems, and their supporting networks. This role requires a strong technical understanding of OT assets, including PLCs, SCADA, telemetry systems, and server infrastructure, as well as experience with threat detection, intrusion systems, and compliance with industry standards like the NIS Directive.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • To improve performance and security of the OT Technology estate through proactive continuous service improvement and to plan and manage the reduction of cyber and security risks to United Utilities' services
  • To deliver security operations management of the OT Technology estate, ensuring its availability 24/7/365 where applicable
  • Provide expert security advice, insights, and suggestions to support other leaders in Technology Services for informed decision-making
  • Identify security trends, assess risks and opportunities for the business, prioritize activities to minimize risks and add value, and implement best practices and innovative approaches internally and externally
  • Oversee the Security Operations Centre (SOC), managing threat detection, monitoring, and response activities
