• Improve security monitoring, incident response, backup and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Coordinate remediation activities with engineering teams and suppliers.
• Document, test and provide assurance evidence for security improvements.
• Produce security risk reports and management dashboards.

OT Security Engineer
Location: Aberdeen/Remote (Hybrid)
Day Rate: Up to GBP700 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Working Arrangement: Remote working considered, with occasional travel to Aberdeen

We are currently recruiting for an experienced OT Security Engineer to join a major cybersecurity improvement programme within the energy and critical infrastructure sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an OT cybersecurity specialist to play a key role in strengthening the security of industrial control systems and operational technology environments.

The successful candidate will lead and coordinate OT cybersecurity risk remediation activities, working closely with engineering, operations, IT and cybersecurity teams to identify vulnerabilities, implement security improvements and strengthen overall cyber resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate OT cybersecurity assessments, remediation activities and security improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity remediation plans, risk registers and progress tracking.
• Review and improve OT network security, segmentation and industrial control system architecture.
• Support OT asset management, vulnerability management, patching and system hardening.
• Strengthen identity and privileged access management across industrial environments.
• Improve security monitoring, incident response, backup and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Coordinate remediation activities with engineering teams, operational stakeholders and third–party suppliers.
• Ensure security improvements are appropriately documented, tested and supported by assurance evidence.
• Produce security risk reports, remediation updates and management dashboards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in OT/ICS/Industrial Cybersecurity.
• Proven experience with OT cybersecurity assessments, risk remediation and security control improvements.
• Good understanding of industrial control systems, including SCADA, PLCs and DCS.
• Experience with OT network security, segmentation and secure architecture.
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, patching and security hardening within industrial environments.
• Experience coordinating cybersecurity remediation activities across multiple technical and operational teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, documentation and risk management skills.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within oil and gas, energy, utilities, manufacturing or critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of IEC 62443, NIST CSF or ISO 27001.
• Experience with OT security monitoring, SIEM, asset discovery and vulnerability management technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GICSP or IEC 62443.

Additional Details

Full–time onsite working in Aberdeen is preferred. However, predominantly remote working may be considered for suitably experienced candidates, with occasional travel to Aberdeen required.

The day rate must be inclusive of travel expenses to Aberdeen.
