Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 5 Orthopaedic Plaster Technician with BOA Casting Certificate and with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Fracture Clinic team.

Fracture Clinic is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment which requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own skills.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to give high quality care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient's privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is maintained, and at all times, the care given is patient centred.

You need to have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

This is a 37.5 hour post working in Fracture Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing individual patient care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating plans of care in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines and providing a plastering service for the orthopaedic ward, clinics, theatres, fracture clinics and Emergency department.

  • Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examination in order to implement management plans for patients.
  • Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide treatment to patients attending the Plaster Room and to assist the Lead Orthopaedic Practitioner on the development of new and current services.
  • To work closely with the Lead Nurse, Managers and the Multidisciplinary Team to provide high quality and cost effective patient focused services.
  • Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching and act as a resource for education and development within the service
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
