Main duties of the job

The Post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate, and have experience and be competent in applying a wide range of casts, in gypsona, light weight synthetic and soft cast. Able to use Plaster saw for safe cast removal. Be able to apply braces and splints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills within the department
  • Work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best practice
  • work with in their on limitations and competencies.
  • maintaining plaster room safety ie: saws and equipment
  • You will be required to attend Theatres and the wards to apply and remove casts as needed.
  • you will be required to facilitate and chaperone in clinics as required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are a busy forward thinking outpatients department caring for patients aged from 0-100+ with a wide range of orthopaedic conditions and fractures, requiring specialist bracing and casting.

The post-holder/s are responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. After an agreed period of time, The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students.

The post holder will be required to work in all areas as required to meet the needs of the service. The post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate.

Flexible working will be required to meet the needs of the service, evenings and weekends working may be required in the future.

Qualifications

  • BOA certificate holder
  • Evidence of Continued professional Development

Experience

  • Experience in an Outpatient setting or similar setting
  • Experience of outpatient’s clinic procedures and multiple conditions.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workloads

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
