OneWelbeck Surgery was founded by a group of leading Consultants with a goal of developing a state-of-the-art day surgery centre in Central London near the Harley Street medical area. The Surgery Centre includes 3 laminar flow theatres, 12 ensuite patient pods and 3 step-up pods. The Centre caters to Orthopaedic, General, Colorectal, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, ENT, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology, OMFS and Pain Management procedures.

We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Orthopaedic Lead to join the team at OneWelbeck Surgery Centre in Central London, a facility offering a new perspective on day surgery in the U.K. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading specialists across multiple specialities as we embark on an exciting journey that offers huge personal and professional opportunities for all involved. Future plans include the development of other centres in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an expert clinical resource within theatres and across the Surgery Centre.
- Lead and coach the team, providing clinical leadership and enabling continuous development.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the operating theatre according to the requirements of the patient, physician, and procedure, including assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Carry out scrub/assisting duties according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement and promoting best evidence-based practice.
- Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.
- Supervise and train staff to ensure the provision of a high-quality and cost-effective service to patients and users.
- Provide expert, holistic care of the highest standard to both perioperative patients and their relatives.
- Ensure the appropriate and safe positioning of the patient according to patient need and planned procedure, monitoring throughout the procedure.
- Support the theatre team by providing effective management of equipment and supplies, problem-solving as needed.
- Ensure sterility and/or high-level disinfection of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure.
- Manage tissue and other specimens accurately according to policy and procedures.
- Document accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner following policies and procedures.
- Consider cost containment by monitoring, ordering, and using supplies economically in collaboration with consultants and companies.
- Participate in delivering cost-effective service, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand, and assisting the Theatre Coordinator and Theatre Manager to keep within agreed resources.
- Organise activities, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
As an Orthopaedic Lead you will have:

Profile
- Registered Nurses with current NMC registration (essential) or Registered ODPs with scrub training and registered with HCPC.
- A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in a theatre setting (essential).
- Current BLS certification (essential), ILS certification (preferred).
- Experience in independent problem-solving as needed in any surgical setting (essential).
- Experience in Orthopaedic Theatres (essential); Lead Scrub Orthopaedic (desirable).
- Experience in providing safe and effective intraoperative service in various specialities (desirable).
