Responsibilities

  • Ensure instrumentation is operated and analysis performed in line with the Management system.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Analyse and interpret data, calculate results and complete laboratory paperwork.
  • Document information by maintaining logs and equipment records.
  • Ensure data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System.

  • Prepare standards, reagents and Quality Control Samples.

As an Organic Chemistry Analyst, you’ll be joining our Water Quality team to prepare and perform routine and non-routine trace analysis using state of the art analytical instrumentation. The role will also involve data interpretation, maintenance, organising workloads and assisting in the implementation of new methodologies.

We will encourage you to seek professional qualifications that will further your understanding and knowledge of Water Supply Regulations. As such, you will need a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 or above (or relevant academic qualification) in a scientific subject, to seek and eventually obtain full membership of the relevant professional body. The capabilities of our laboratories are market leading, and we are currently undergoing an expansion of our operations. You’ll be surrounded by modern facilities and encouragement to share ideas to help implement new methods. Unfortunately, we cannot offer sponsorship for this role. Main responsibilities
  • You’ll ensure that instrumentation is operated and analysis performed in line with the Laboratory Management system.
  • You’ll assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Chromatographic, Spectrophotometric, Colorimetric and preparatory equipment.
  • You’ll analyse and interpret data, calculate results and complete all laboratory paperwork.
  • You’ll document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
  • You’ll ensure data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
  • You’ll ensure that the sample stability and turnaround for the given analysis is met.
  • You’ll help to prepare standards, reagents and Quality Control Samples in accordance with company internal procedures.
You’ll need Skills / Qualifications / Experience
  • You’ll have existing knowledge of good laboratory practice.
  • You have a degree in Chemistry or another relevant scientific subject.
  • You’ll be willing to work towards full membership of the professional body.
  • You have excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills to engage in robust analytical laboratory practice.
