Job description

Job Title: Oracle DBA

Location: Remote, UK

Duration: 6 months+

Job Description

Responsible for the design, build, and day-to-day support of Oracle databases. These databases are each 100TB in size (and growing), hold over 13 billion rows of data each, and process approximately 1 billion SQL statements daily. As part of a DevOps team, you will work closely with application and infrastructure SMEs to ensure these critical services function to required standards. Maintain and improve SLAs, ensure compliance with client policies, and actively participate in achieving organizational objectives for efficiency, innovation, and quality delivery. Perform proactive analysis, identify automation opportunities, report and address process or technical gaps, reduce incidents, and standardize tasks/processes. Support is required 24/7, either from the office or on call, usually one week in four, often at short notice, with compensatory time off as per HR guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • All aspects of Oracle DBA support including design, build, enhancements (e.g., automation), and 24/7 support for RAC, Oracle 19c, Database restoration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience with Oracle 19c RDBMS, RAC, and Data Guard on Linux platforms.
  • Perform database software installation, upgrades, and patching.
  • Database migrations within and across platforms.
  • Build and deploy solutions, perform capacity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents.
  • Create, modify, and drop tablespaces.
  • Clone environments.
  • Backup and restore databases.
  • Data archival activities.
  • Assist development teams with queries and issues.
  • Manage database space.
  • Implement releases and service requests.
  • Monitor servers and databases, perform health checks.
  • Ensure systems run smoothly and escalate issues promptly.
  • Performance tuning and optimization.
  • Scripting skills.
  • Customer service and problem resolution.
  • Lead crisis calls from an Oracle DB perspective.
  • Identify and resolve problem situations to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with Oracle on RedHat Linux.
  • Experience with Delphix is a plus.
