Job description

We are seeking a full-time Optician to join our team at Reading Eye Associates. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our optometrist to ensure patients receive high-quality care and service. Experience with contact lenses is a plus, as we have a large contact lens patient base. Our practice is a well-established, full-service optometric facility with an on-site edger, offering all types of eyeglass sales and services. We have a small, dedicated team of 7 staff members who work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

1. Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their needs and preferences.
2. Perform fittings, repairs, and adjustments for eyeglasses.
3. Receive and verify eyeglass and contact lens orders.
4. Explain insurance and vision plan benefits to patients.
5. Instruct patients on contact lens insertion and removal.
6. Order contact lenses and eyewear, including private and vision plans.
7. Assist front desk staff with scheduling and payments as needed.
8. Meet with frame vendors.

Minimum Requirements

• Massachusetts Optician license.

Compensation and Schedule

Salary starts at a minimum of $40/hour, depending on experience. Full-time position, Monday through Friday (no weekends).
