Optical Development Engineer

Stockport

We are seeking an Optical Development Engineer to join us within our R&D function, based at our state-of-the-art laser manufacturing facility in Stockport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • As an Optical Engineer, you will work to optimize optical product performance.
  • Ensure that designs meet customer requirements.
  • You will be analyzing technical problems, proposing solutions, and making recommendations.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
  • Designing and developing optical systems and components, applying industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals on-time and within budget.
  • Performing research for problem-solving that requires extensive diagnosis.
  • Modeling this process to less-experienced personnel.
  • Creating and maintaining necessary documentation and reports.
Skills and Experience:
  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering or a related field with experience designing and developing optical systems.
  • Knowledge - In-depth knowledge of optical component, coating, and system specifications.
  • Experience selecting optical fabrication and assembly methods.
  • Ability to develop, test, characterize, and validate optical components and systems.
  • Proficient in optical design/modelling software.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
