Job summary

CVI Infrared Optics, part of IDEX MSS, is seeking a motivated Optical Coating Engineer to join our Coating Department in Whetstone, Leicestershire. You will operate coating processes, apply coating knowledge, and help meet customer delivery schedules, quality standards, and yield targets.

Working with a skilled team, you will contribute to continuous improvement and support new product development while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong practical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances and specifications.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage coating processes across at least two coating plants.
• Complete and maintain production documentation and process records.
• Use spectrophotometers and measuring equipment to assess coating performance.
• Monitor processes and take corrective action when needed.
• Identify coating defects and understand causes and prevention methods.
• Inspect components prior to coating and ensure safe handling.
• Select suitable fixtures and test pieces to maximise efficiency and compliance.
• Carry out routine maintenance on equipment and control systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and coating requirements.
• Support training of colleagues within the coating department.
