Job summary

Op RESTORE is an NHS service hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust that supports individuals who have served in, or are leaving, the UK Armed Forces and have continuing, physical health injuries and related medical problems attributed to their time in the Armed Forces.

Successful candidates will have a clinical background and an understanding of both the NHS and military culture and environment and have excellent administration skills. They will be used to managing a clinical team and overseeing clinical pathways of care. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing and final sign off of clinical plans to support veterans ongoing physical health and presenting them at a virtual MDT for agreement. They will have good problem-solving skills and be used to working in a changing environment with different patients requiring different strategies within a developing service. Whilst the postholder will not have direct contact with veterans, this role will include liaising with GPs, hospital consultants, military charities and other stakeholders to ensure those more complex referrals are supported with a holistic overview, coordination of other stakeholders and liaison with the MOD and Personnel Recovery Units (PRUs) for personnel leaving the Armed Forces who meet the criteria of the service.

Please note this is a home working post - the expectation is that the postholder will be based at their home with occasional travel into London or other parts of England.

Main duties of the job
  • To be accountable in own area of responsibility to provide clinical, and professional leadership to the multi-disciplinary team providing welfare support.
  • To continue to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re service development and the delivery of care in partnership with service users, carers, staff, managers, other agencies.
  • To be responsible for complex care coordination across Op RESTORE.
  • To develop key partnerships, working to ensure effective whole system working, through effective communication and networking with other disciplines and by working across professional boundaries.
  • To work alongside the Op RESTORE clinicians to deliver clinical care plan for veterans accessing the service, and present these for consultant sign-off.
