Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the Ophthalmology team at Woodlands Hospital on a bank, as-and-when-needed basis in Darlington. You will assist the surgical team, prepare instruments, maintain sterility and support the anaesthetist during procedures, with a focus on patient safety and smooth theatre lists.

Qualifications

• Registration with NMC or HCPC is required.
• Experience in a theatre environment in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic setting.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility for surgical cases.
• Support the anaesthetist with equipment and patient monitoring.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Adhere to infection prevention policies and report faults.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient lists.
