Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Clinical Senior Lecturer, Block Lead for Ophthalmology in the MBChB Programme. The role focuses on shaping and delivering Ophthalmology content across Year 4, ensuring high-quality teaching and alignment with assessments.

The successful candidate will lead curriculum development, support equitable learning, and liaise with clinical placements, with hybrid working options available.

Qualifications

• Practising physician/surgeon with a primary medical qualification on the specialist register.
• Evidence of leadership in undergraduate or postgraduate medical education.
• Understanding of medical education theory through CPD or equivalent.
• Ability to lead organisational change with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisation skills to support teaching and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Year 4 Lead to ensure delivery of the MBChB programme.
• Maintain academic content and learning materials for Ophthalmology in MBChB.
• Support equity of learning for Year 4 Ophthalmology students.
• Provide teaching resources and liaise with clinical placement supervisors across sites.
• Collaborate with assessment teams to map materials to taught content.
