Ophthalmology Care Assistant — Fast-Paced Clinic Support

Job summary

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join ophthalmology outpatients. You will support nurses and clinicians, helping deliver patient-centred care in a busy ophthalmic clinic.

The role offers exposure to specialist testing and a fast-paced environment, with duties across patient care, room preparation, and clerical support. 28.5 hours per week over a seven-day contract.

Qualifications

• Assist qualified nursing staff in the delivery of care to patients attending ophthalmology clinics
• Support patients before, during, and after consultations and procedures
• Undertake basic clinical tasks following appropriate training (e.g. visual acuity, BP, glucose monitoring)
• Prepare clinic rooms and equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assist with patient flow and clerical duties within the outpatient department
• Maintain patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times
• Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Prepare clinic rooms and equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assist with patient flow and clerical duties within the outpatient department
• Maintain patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times
• Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team
• Work as part of a team within a very busy fast paced unit, delivering specialist testing to enable doctors to diagnose and treat ophthalmic conditions
