Job summary

Horder Healthcare in East Grinstead is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (Bank) to support our ophthalmology service with high‑quality diagnostic testing and patient care. You will work closely with consultants, nurses, and admin teams to help ensure smooth clinic operations.

The role requires experience in ophthalmic diagnostics, confidence with clinical equipment and patient records, and a calm, patient‑centred manner.

Qualifications

  • Experienced in ophthalmic diagnostics.
  • Confident using clinical equipment, IT systems, and electronic patient records.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Calm, reassuring, and able to put patients at ease during clinical procedures.
  • A strong communicator with a compassionate, patient‑centred approach.
  • Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, biometry, fundus photography, and visual acuity assessment.
  • Preparing patients for clinical assessments and providing clear explanations of procedures.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained, cleaned, and calibrated according to clinical standards.
  • Accurately documenting results and updating patient records and clinical systems.
  • Supporting consultants and nursing staff during ophthalmic clinics.
  • Upholding infection control standards and maintaining a safe clinical environment.
  • Supporting administrative tasks to maintain smooth clinic flow.
