Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Ophthalmic Nurse Injector / Preoperative Nurse.

The Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic (POAC) Nurse is responsible for assessing patients pre-operatively for various ophthalmic surgical procedures, ensuring they are physically and emotionally prepared and delivering high standards of nursing care.

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated nurse with excellent communication skills who enjoys a challenge.

You will perform intravitreal injections using sterile techniques during clinics at the Eye Care Centre and Northwich Infirmary regularly.

The post holder will provide ophthalmic specialist advice and be instrumental in ensuring patients undergoing surgery, both under local and general anesthesia, receive appropriate care for optimal outcomes.

Applicants should have a good knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures and nursing care, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good slit lamp skills and the ability to review patients post-operatively or with other ophthalmic conditions are required.

The post may require deputising for the Department Manager or Deputy Manager when they are unavailable.
