Job summary

Optegra is recruiting an experienced Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) for the Manchester Eye Hospital. This part-time role (19 hours across 2 days) focuses on delivering high-quality ophthalmic care within a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has ward or theatre experience, preferably in ophthalmology, and holds NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent. The role offers flexible working with comprehensive benefits and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent is required.
• Experience in healthcare or ophthalmic sector preferred.
• Basic Life Support competent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care during ophthalmic visits.
• Coordinate with clinical and patient services for smooth operating lists.
• Perform diagnostic testing in clinic (Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, Topography).
• Support patients on surgery days with clear communication.
• Handle patient inquiries and refer to practitioners as needed.
• Provide pre and postoperative care within competence.
