An opportunity for an Operator (Overhead Lines) at National Grid in Brecon. The role involves assisting with the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, requiring flexibility and a valid driving licence. Training is provided for candidates with some electrical experience.
An opportunity is available for an Operator (Overhead Lines) based at Brecon.
As an Operator, you will assist a Craftsperson with construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of overhead lines up to and including 66kV/33kV. Some experience in the electrical field is preferred, but all necessary training will be provided.
The role involves working away from the depot, typically in a team of two. The environment requires quick, decisive, and responsible actions to meet operational demands.
You will also be responsible for ensuring the van contains all essential tools and equipment, working safely, and assisting with any labour required on site. Flexibility in working hours and a valid driving licence are essential.
Applicants must hold GCSEs in English & Maths (grades 1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualifications such as Functional Skills. Evidence of qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Note: For roles involving working at height and using Personal Fall Protection Equipment, there are restrictions on maximum weight.
You will work at heights on all types of overhead lines. Duties include:
The candidate should be flexible and willing to assist the team in achieving objectives. Experience in the electrical field is preferred but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
A valid driving licence is essential, as the role may require standby duties across the area.
