Nuclear Restoration Services invites an Operator to support the safe decommissioning of the Dounreay site as part of a dedicated team. You will perform a range of operational activities that help maintain safety, support site operations and progress decommissioning work.

You will undertake routine maintenance, monitoring and site checks, assist with plant improvements and repairs, and work in radiological areas with shift flexibility while upholding high safety and compliance standards.

• Perform routine plant, fire and emergency checks and assist in resolving issues.
• Prepare radiological areas and controlled work zones as necessary.
• Operate in alpha or beta-gamma radiological work areas including decommissioning activities.
• Minimise and package radioactive materials following procedures.
• Carry out routine and non-routine operational tasks including plant improvements and repairs.
• Provide coverage for shift operations as demand requires.

As an Operator, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe decommissioning of the Dounreay site. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll carry out a variety of operational activities that help maintain safety, support site operations and progress decommissioning work.

What Will You Be Doing

You’ll undertake operational maintenance, monitoring and routine site checks to support the safe operation of facilities across the site. The role also involves supporting plant improvements, repairs and decommissioning activities while working to high safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Carry out routine plant, fire and emergency checks identifying unusual trends and system/component failures and assist in its resolution
• Prepare radiation/contaminated controlled work areas including radiological containments as necessary
• Prepare and operate in alpha or beta-gamma radiation/contaminated controlled work areas including decommissioning activities
• Minimise and package radioactive materials
• Carry out routine and non-routine operational activities including support to plant improvements and repairs as appropriate
• Be required to undertake shift working as operational needs demand
• Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to the post

You’ll ideally have experience in an operational, industrial, engineering or manufacturing environment, along with the ability to adapt to a varied workload. A willingness to work in controlled radiological areas and undertake shift working when required is essential.
