Job summary

Network Rail is recruiting for an operative to support daily maintenance of the rail network. You will work outdoors in a small team, ensuring safety and reliability for passengers and freight.

We value transferrable skills, provide comprehensive training, and support career development. This role may require on-call work under the Standard Maintenance contract.

Qualifications

  • Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other instructions.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other instructions.
  • Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent.
  • Undertake work activities as directed, in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.
  • Check that vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials under your control are fit for use and are used/stored and disposed of correctly.
  • Contribute to your own development.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Able to work as part of team.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by the business need.
  • Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ 1 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.

A critical part of the work we do is the daily upkeep of the rail network. As an operative you'll work outdoors in a small team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

Salary -£32,639 per annum

*Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call in this role if you opt to take the Standard Maintenance contract.*
