Brief Description

You'll help keep our nation moving every single day. A critical part of the work we do is the daily upkeep of the rail network. As an Operative you'll work in a small team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.

About The Role (External)

Operatives specialise in various disciplines; for this role, you'll become a specialist in Track Maintenance. You'll work outdoors in all conditions, often involving manual work and transporting kit across tricky terrain. Safety, adherence to rules, and teamwork are critical, especially working near moving trains.

Your Role and Skills
  • Support your team in maintaining equipment and providing lookout duties for safety.
  • Commit to self-development through training, with clear career progression opportunities.
  • Demonstrate transferrable skills such as teamwork, communication, proactive planning, working under pressure, following rules, and willingness to learn.
Additional Information
  • Shift work including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Requires a valid driving license (category B).
  • Within a 60-minute commute of the location.
Essential Criteria
  • Experience in a safety-critical environment.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Willing to develop new skills.
