The Operative Development Assistant (ODA) will support the Operative Development Manager in delivering high-quality training and development programs for operatives within the Trenchless workforce. This role will focus on assisting in training coordination, on-site mentoring, and ensuring a structured approach to upskilling employees. The ODA will play a key role in maintaining training records, organising learning sessions, and providing hands-on support to operatives in their day-to-day activities.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Assist in the delivery of in-house and on-site training programs.
- Support operatives with hands-on training, ensuring they meet the required capability levels.
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions, including external courses and on-the-job learning.
- Help operatives understand compliance requirements, paperwork, software systems, and client protocols.
- Accompany operatives to job sites to provide guidance and reinforce training principles.
- Help operatives develop knowledge in key areas such as infiltration, repairs, CCTV surveys, and other drainage-related tasks.
- Ensure operatives adhere to company standards and procedures to maintain high-quality work output.
Training Coordination & Administration:
- Maintain and update training records, ensuring all operatives progress according to the Technical Development Framework.
- Track skill development and identify gaps in training needs.
- Support in organizing external training sessions at locations such as Severn Trent Training Centre.
- Work closely with the ODM to align training programs with company objectives.
- Collaborate with the PMO team to coordinate external training requirements.
- Liaise with depot teams across locations (e.g., Haydock, Scotland) to facilitate targeted training.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in training, workforce development, or a similar role within the construction, utilities, or trenchless technology sector.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and support operatives in both classroom and field settings.
- Familiarity with training documentation, compliance, and workforce management.
- Willingness to travel to multiple depots for training initiatives.
