Overview

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a heavy manufacturing business on the appointment of a Buyer on a full-time permanent basis. This is an excellent chance for a junior procurement professional to gain experience in a large-scale manufacturing business who are recognised as one of the top names in their industry.

As the Buyer, you will ensure the continuity of supply through MRP and scheduling, identifying and remedying potential supply issues and taking remedial action before there is an impact on production. You will work for the best value and terms!

In your new role
  • Provide a strong purchasing and procurement support function to all areas ensuring continuity and efficiency of production, and to identify then act on actual and potential shortages ensuring full ownership is taken in remedial action
  • Raise purchase orders and ensure these are placed in line with demand, and always when undertaking buying activity on behalf of the Company ensure that the terms and conditions of business are in the interests of the Company
  • You will ensure that design changes are followed through to ensure continuity of parts for production and will expedite procured items to minimize production disruption and ensure the integrity and accuracy of procurement data for all stakeholders
  • Collating internal customer feedback on supplier performance, right first time, adherence to delivery schedule to bring forward to line manager to support the effective management of suppliers
  • You will manage a portfolio of suppliers and implement performance improvement plans when necessary and undertake specific procurement related projects to drive down prices and ensure maximum value and terms
  • Required to support sourcing activities to resource items to "fit, form and function"
What you will need to succeed
  • 2 years in a similar role within manufacturing
  • Experience working with MRPs/ERPs
  • Competency in MS Excel
